09 Oct Novel magnetite regeneration procedure in Steam Water Cycles
Steam – Water Cycle commissioning after a shutdown for maintenance purposes has a high impact on system’s further performance. Solar Thermal Power Plants activity relies on cyclic and intermittent operation. This regime increases metal oxide potential release and its deposition on heat transfer surfaces or low velocity areas with unpredictable consequences given system’s extreme operational conditions.
Adiquimica, a leading company in Water Treatment chemicals’ production and implementation, developed and successfully applied a novel magnetite regeneration procedure in Steam – Water cycle at several Industrial Power Plants. Procedure’s target was to create a high stability magnetite layer to resist potential system’s pH excursions. A stable and strongly built magnetite layer not only avoids stream lines plugging but also erosion phenomena at high turbulence areas as well as metal oxide access to the system’s turbine.
